FAQs

+ What's the difference between the EO Mini and the EO Mini Pro 2?

The main difference between the two units is that EO Mini Pro 2 is a smart charger - it qualifies for the OZEV grant and comes with our smart charging app, the 'EO Smart Home' app, allowing you to control your charging sessions from the palm of your hand.

We’ve introduced a number of new features to the EO Mini Pro 2 to offer drivers greater insights when plugging-in and help them save on their energy bills, such as power balancing and solar charging (both available as optional extra for £60.00 each).

Both the EO Mini and the EO Mini Pro 2 have a compact size (they're smaller than an A5 sheet of paper!) but if you're looking to control and monitor your charging activity then we recommend you consider the EO Mini Pro-2.

+ Do your charger need an earth rod?

We recommend that EO Approved Installers include a Garo earthing device (product sold separately at a discount through EO) for all home installs, negating the need for an earth rod when fitting your charging unit. The device meets the latest wiring regulations in place and is part of our standard installation package which covers the majority of homes in the UK.

+ How long is the cable on a tethered unit?

All our tethered chargers come with a 5m long cable as standard as it's a good compromise between ease of use and ease of storage. That said, 7.5m and 10m cable length are available for the tethered EO Basic which can be ordered directly through to our team when booking your installation.

Please note that longer cables are not available for the EO Mini and EO Mini Pro 2 as the small size of the unit has been specifically designed to carry the weight of a 5m cable.

+ Are any of your chargers RFID compatible?

It's not possible to use RFID with our home charging units as they aren't equipped with a RFID card reader. That said, the EO Mini Pro 2 is smartphone controlled and allows you to start, stop and schedule a charging session from the 'EO Smart Home' app.

+ Can I order an EO charger without installation and use my own electrician to fit in?

All EO Charging products must be installed by an EO Approved Installer, this is to ensure that the product is installed correctly and that you've got access to a reliable and easy to use charger.

Please note that if you do not use an EO Approved Installer then the smart features of your charger will remain locked and the warranty will be invalid. We are also unable to provide support through the installation process for a charger where non-EO Approved Installers are used.

+ What happens if my installation is non-standard?

Non-standard charger installations may incur an additional cost. Once your order is placed, we'll be in touch to better understand your requirements and produce a no-obligation quote for the additional works. If you decide not to proceed, a full refund will be provided.

+ How do I claim the OZEV grant? Can I claim it if I purchase a second hand EV or use a company car?

To claim £350 off the cost of your new home charging point, simply order it with us, provide us with your documentation and our team will do the rest!

If you become a registered keeper of a second-hand electric car, you are eligible to claim. If you are assigned a company car for at least 6 months, you are also eligible to claim.
